Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Denis Suarez on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season.The 25-year-old joins the day after signing a one-year contract extension at the Nou Camp.2

It is understood the Gunners are keen to make the move permanent for 20million in the summer.Suarez, who has played under Unai Emery previously at Sevilla, revealed he was inspired to join by his admiration for Gunners legends like Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.“One thing no one knows about me is that when I was little I used to watch the Premier League on TV,” Suarez said.“Arsenal were a team that really inspired me. The Spanish midfielder was keen to leave the Nou Camp after being marginalised under head coach Ernesto Valverde.Barcelona were originally insistent on a permanent switch, with Suarez’s contract set to expire in the summer, however the recent extension protects his value.Emery admitted earlier this month that the Gunners would only be capable of signing players on loan due to a lack of funds at the club.
